Our journey began long before our first date — we actually knew each other back in high school. Life took us in different directions for a while, but as fate would have it, we reconnected as adults. What started as a simple catch-up turned into hours at Changing Times over drinks and laughter that neither of us wanted to end.

Love found us in an unexpected season. When Cody was navigating some challenging moments within her family and relearning what love could look like, Nick showed up — steady, kind, and committed. His presence during that time brought us closer, faster. What we were building was something rooted in support, patience, and understanding.

There have been countless moments that have made our relationship special — from the way Nick always tries to make Cody laugh, to the way Cody lights up any room she walks into with her warmth and ability to connect with anyone. And of course, there’s Rex — Cody’s dog, who Nick loved from day one. We’re pretty sure Rex was just as in love as we were.

Nick proposed on a quiet Friday afternoon in our home, with Rex leading the way. He came bounding into the living room carrying a stuffed toy — it was a stuffed ring. It was simple, sweet, and perfect for us. Cody was completely surprised, and Rex got plenty of treats for being the best proposal assistant ever.

We love each other for all the big reasons — honesty, kindness, and unwavering support — but also for the little things: Cody’s beautiful blue eyes, Nick’s goofy sense of humor, and the way we feel like home to each other.
